Mid-Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services (Hybrid, London)
London EC2 | Hybrid Working

Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 + package

The Opportunity

Valoris Group is working in partnership with a growing building services consultancy delivering technically ambitious mechanical designs across commercial fit-out, refurbishment and mixed-use developments.

This role is suited to an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who wants genuine influence, not just responsibility. You will have ownership of your designs, direct input into technical decisions, and visibility across projects from concept through delivery. The consultancy places a strong emphasis on quality engineering, low-carbon solutions and future-focused design.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for delivering mechanical building services designs across RIBA Stages 2 to 4, working closely with architects, structural engineers and internal stakeholders. The role offers autonomy, technical challenge and progression within a collaborative consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery of mechanical designs for commercial Cat A and Cat B fit-out, refurbishment and mixed-use projects
  • Production of schematics, calculations, schedules and technical reports
  • Development and management of IES VE models and outputs
  • Contribution to low-carbon, decarbonisation and retrofit strategies
  • Coordination with architects, structural engineers and wider design teams
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers where required
  • Attendance at key design meetings and site visits to review installation quality
Key Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in mechanical building services design
  • Background within a building services consultancy
  • Proven experience delivering Cat A and Cat B fit-out projects
  • Confident using AutoCAD and IES Virtual Environment
  • Strong understanding of ASHPs, VRF, MVHR and LTHW / CHW systems
  • Working knowledge of UK regulations including Part L, F and O, CIBSE guidance, TM52 and TM59
  • Comfortable working autonomously while contributing effectively within a wider team
