Senior Management Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Management Accountant to join our Financial Management team here at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our finance team in providing a high level of support to our Clinical Services.

The Financial Management Team is responsible for delivering accurate and easy to understand financial information and providing high quality financial advice, working alongside the divisions to make the best decisions for the Trust.

The post holder will need to have excellent communication skills to assist them in dealing with a wide range of people and an interest in investigating and solving problems using a range of information sources and systems.

Whilst experience of supporting a clinical function is desirable, this role is suitable for any candidate with a good understanding and experience of financial management.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with both finance and clinical/operational teams, this role will provide you with an opportunity to be part of a forward looking and innovative finance team that provides comprehensive advice and support.

The role involves ensuring both our expenditure and income are accurately apportioned and recorded, providing financial support (face to face and online) to budget managers to ensure achievement of planned performance, supporting the budget setting cycle and identifying, analysing & investigating complex financial queries and discrepancies.

The post holder will be required:

  • To provide a comprehensive, professional management accounting service within Hampshire and IOW Healthcare NHS FT.
  • To assist the Finance directorate in the overall reconciliation of the Trust's income and expenditure position, and the production of the Trust's finance and performance reports.
  • To assist the Finance directorate in the overall Trust financial planning process including completion of the NHSE Annual Plan template in relation to income and expenditure.

While the role may be allocated to a specific division, the Trust will continue to review its reporting structure. Changes to reporting lines may be required in the normal course of business. Any post holder must be aware of the changing nature of the organisation and therefore, be flexible about any potential impact.
