Job description

We’re looking for a commercially minded and collaborative Senior Legal Counsel to support our Affordable Homes business. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of real estate transactions that make a meaningful difference to communities across the UK. You’ll be part of a supportive legal team working closely with investment and operational colleagues to deliver high-quality legal advice and help us manage legal and reputational risk.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Providing legal advice on real estate transactions across the Affordable Homes portfolio
  • Negotiating and managing contracts including sale, development, lease and funding agreements
  • Supporting due diligence processes for acquisitions and disposals
  • Advising on operational legal matters and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external counsel to deliver commercial outcomes
  • Coaching deal teams on legal risks and supporting self‑service where appropriate
  • Reviewing and developing standard documents and legal policies
  • Keeping up to date with legal developments and sharing knowledge across the team
Qualifications:
  • Qualified solicitor with at least 4 years post‑qualification experience in real estate law
  • Strong understanding of social housing regulation and affordable housing transactions
  • Experience negotiating and managing complex property contracts
  • Ability to provide clear commercially focused legal advice
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management capability
  • Proactive approach to problem‑solving and risk mitigation
  • Commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
