Job summary

A fast-growing travel-tech organization is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer for a key engineering role. You will lead the evolution of large-scale systems using Java, Springboot, and MySQL. Responsibilities include designing backend features and contributing to shared architecture. This is a fully remote 6-month contract role outside IR35, with a high likelihood of extension. Strong expertise in scalable service architecture and API design is required.

A fast-growing travel-tech organisation is embarking on a major product evolution and is looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join their team. This is a key engineering role working on high-traffic, consumer-facing systems used across Europe.

What You’ll Work On

• Lead the evolution of a large-scale Java, Springboot, and MySQL , ensuring it can support a new universal architecture across multiple products.
• Design and implement new backend features, Unit Testing, API testing, and system improvements to support both web and mobile clients.
• Contribute to shared architecture, functional models, and backend design patterns to unify services across the organisation.

Required Skills & Experience

• Senior-level expertise building and maintaining commercial, production-scale applications.
• Deep proficiency in:
• Java
• Springboot (server-side development, API design)
• MySQL (performance optimisation, complex queries, relational modelling)
• Experience architecting and maintaining distributed backend systems.
• Strong understanding of integration patterns, API design, and scalable service architecture.

Nice To Have

• Node.js, PHP, MongoDB, Kafka, React (for back office apps)

Contract Details

• 6-month contract — extension highly likely due to roadmap depth
