Overview

Java Developer sought by a UK SaaS technology company. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a small, experienced team and lead from the front on new feature development. Your coding will influence thousands of users across our platform, and we support innovation by empowering the development team to influence architectural decisions. If you have strong Java coding skills at a Senior level and would like to mentor a few junior team members, please get in touch.

Title: Java Developer, Senior Java Developer, Software Engineer (combination of these words).

Location

HQ is in Oxfordshire, but this role and the team can operate remotely if needed. You would need to be open to some office visits in the Oxford area.

Compensation

Salary: £60K Basic + Benefits package

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small development team. You may have some experience already, or a desire to progress to a more senior/lead role.
• Designing and building scalable, maintainable applications using Java (Java 8+, with experience or a strong desire to work with Java 21) and Spring Boot.
• Understand and apply a range of core AWS services.
• Adhere to Software Development Best Practices: write clean, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code. Proficient with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Strong Java coding skills at Senior level with Spring Boot framework.
• Experience designing and building scalable, maintainable applications using Java 8+ (with interest in Java 21).
• Hands-on experience with a range of core AWS services.
• Proven ability to write clean, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code; familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Desirable

• Experience working with web applications using React and/or JavaScript on the client side.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and IaC tools like AWS CloudFormation.
