Due to an increase in workload and exciting growth plans planned for Northern Ireland, we are currently seeking aSenior Hydrologist / Hydraulic Modeller to join us in Belfast.
You will join a friendly team of over 80 Hydrologists, Hydrogeologists, Water Resources Planners and Water Quality Scientists as part of our wider Water Environment Team. These team projects include enhancing the resilience of the public water supply and reducing the impact of wastewater treatment infrastructure on the water environment, with opportunities to contribute to flood risk modelling, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) Modelling, and nature-based solutions.
As a Senior Hydrologist / Hydraulic Modeller, your project work will likely cover areas including flood hydrology and hydraulic modelling studies incorporating the impact of climate change, completion of Flood Risk Assessments to support planning applications, low flow assessments and water systems modelling to define the availability of water for supply during droughts, and the design and testing of nature-based solutions to assist with flooding and water quality improvements.
You will be expected to have responsibility for delivering water resource management, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, drainage and flood mitigation, and climate impact assessment projects. You will also manage projects and maintain client relationships, assist with winning work and the development of new business within the water environment team, and provide technical guidance, support and training to junior colleagues, assisting, where practicable, in the mentoring and development of others.
About YouYou will ideally have skills in hydraulic and hydrological Modelling, factual and interpretative reporting, data management, analysis, and presentation of results. You will hold a degree in a relevant subject, such as environmental science, civil engineering, geography, or another related discipline with a strong hydrology or hydraulics focus. You should have several years’ experience in hydrology, flood risk and/or drainage, with a preference for a consultancy background.
