Job summary

A global manufacturing business is seeking a Senior HGV & Plant Technician to join their team in Leyland. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in HGV and plant maintenance, with responsibilities including routine inspections, repairs, and documentation. A City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance & Repair is required. The position offers a salary range of £54,000 - £61,700 with a days-only schedule from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in HGV and Plant Technician roles.
  • Able to carry out maintenance, repairs, and inspections to VOSA standard.
  • Holds valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence (desirable).

Senior HGV and Plant Technician

gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Senior HGV & Plant Technician to work at their facility based near Leyland

Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs & MOTs on HGVs, Trailers, Pool Cars & Other Plant to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of mechanical & electrical faults using Texa diagnostic equipment
  • Dismantle, repair / replace faulty components and test the new ones are working safely
  • Liaise with HGV workshop administrator to order vehicle parts
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is completed and accurate records are maintained
  • Good communication and maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment
Person Specification
  • 8+ Years of HGV / Plant Technician experience
  • Apprentice trained and qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
  • Holds valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence (Desirable)
  • MOT Preparation Experience - Tractor Units & Trailers
  • Previous experience working with HGVs and Plant, basic welding skills, hydraulic & auto electrical skills
  • Ability to lead a small team as well as use own initiative to work independently
  • Hardworking and can work well under pressure in a safe and responsible manner
  • IRTEC Accreditation (Desirable)
  • Loler competence - experience in undertaking LOler inspections - LEEA
