A Senior Healthcare Support Worker (SHCSW) supports registered healthcare professionals by performing delegated clinical, therapeutic, and non-clinical tasks for patients, using their experience and knowledge to make decisions within their scope of practice.
At Newton Abbot Hospital we have an opportunity for you to work in a post which provides the highest achievable standard of emergency care, following individual patient assessment of needs.
Working effectively alongside Registered Nurses/Practitioners within the Department as required daily and to undertake supervision and where appropriate assist with the orientation of staff unfamiliar with the department.
Working clinically to ensure the safety and quality of the care given to your designated patients within the UTC, under the supervision of a registered nurse/practitioner
Undertaking the following, but not restricted to, clinical tasks competently and efficiently:
Supporting and working with colleagues during the shift
Liaising with the wider MDT to maintain safety
Helping to facilitate the development of the service as part of the wider team
To participate in discussions and projects that will benefit the team, the patients and the department as a whole
Working under guidance and in conjunction with the senior nursing team and the departmental Matron
Following the Department's and Trust's Policies and Protocols to ensure the safety of the department
