Job description

Job Title: Senior Food Technician

Actual Annual Salary: £19,415 - £20,930 (based on hours and working weeks)

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £27,964 - £30,146 (CLF Grade C) (based on 37 hours per week, all year round)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Part‑Time, 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only plus inset days. Average 6 hours per day. Hours can be discussed at interview.

Provisional Start Date: As soon as possible – upon completion of pre‑employment checks.

As a Senior Food Technology Technician within the Creative Department at Broadoak Academy, you will:

  • Order materials for classes.
  • Prepare and portion food for lessons.
  • Support teaching staff during practical sessions.
  • Take ownership of health and safety within the food rooms.
  • Receive and store food deliveries.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department and staff to support other technicians across the academy.
  • Plan, facilitate, and design safe, engaging practical activities that enhance learning.
  • Maintain a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with all regulations and guidelines.
About you:
  • Practical experience of understanding and following processes and procedures.
  • Minimum A Level standard in an appropriate technology field and/or equivalent experience in food science.
  • Experience of using, cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring the safety of specialist equipment.
  • Relevant vocational qualification (e.g., Food Hygiene certificate) where the post regularly handles food and associated substances.
