Job summary

A financial services company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Financial Planning Analyst for a 12-month fixed-term contract. About the team

The Planning & Strategy Function is a Group Finance team that provides OSB Group with financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, management accounting, cost management, mortgage pricing and finance business partnering.

What you will be doing?

As a Senior Financial Planning Analyst, you will have the opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality Group financial reporting, analysis, and insight to inform Executive and Board decision-making. The role partners with FP&A, Financial Control, and the wider business to explain performance, analyse drivers of change, and translate financial data into clear, actionable insight. You will be expected to contribute to driving improvement in financial analysis and systems development, while continuously improving the quality and efficiency of FP&A outputs.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Own the numbers: Prepare accurate and timely Group and subsidiary management accounts, supporting data integrity, reconciliations, and clear audit trails; Partner with colleagues in FP&A and Financial Control to ensure reported results are consistent, well-understood, and appropriately explained.
  • Performance monitoring & reporting: Produce monthly actuals vs prior months/budget/forecast reporting, performing variance analysis and highlighting key drivers (timing, volume, cost, mix). Contribute to MI, Executive, and Board packs, ensuring outputs are accurate, clearly presented, and decision ready.
  • Commercial insight & narrative: Help develop concise financial performance commentary that explains what has changed, why and implications for the future. Translate financial data into clear insights for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Business partnering & stakeholder support: Act as a responsive Finance contact for stakeholders, providing timely, relevant, and well-explained information. Build strong working relationships across Finance and the wider business to support effective communication and challenge.
  • Systems, models & analysis tools: Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of Anaplan models, including data validation, scenario analysis, and documentation.
  • Projects, ad-hoc analysis & continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processes, automate reporting, and raise the quality of insight delivered by FP&A. Provide financial analysis contributing to projects, business cases, and ad-hoc requests as required.
Please note that this is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract opportunity

Do you have the skills?

  • Experience within a financial reporting role, with applied understanding of management accounting and FP&A disciplines, including management accounts preparation, performance analysis, and financial controls.
  • Good working knowledge of systems and data literacy, including accounting and planning systems (e.g. SUN, Anaplan), and strong Excel is essential.
  • You must be a fully qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
