Senior Finance Officer

Location: Lambpit Street, Wrexham, LL11 1AR
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 6+ Months
Working Hours: Mon Fri, 09 00, 37 Hours per week
Pay rate: £ 17.29 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Provide wide-ranging financial support across all aspects of the School's Finance Team.
  • Ensure financial returns and monitoring for Wrexham s Schools are completed within required deadlines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues including Head Teachers, Schools Support Staff, and the Education Management Team.
  • Offer financial advice, including technical advice, support, and assistance to relevant service and team managers.
  • Provide costings and financial information to support budget planning, service development plans, and resource management.
  • Support the revenue budget monitoring process for the service(s), ensuring effective budgetary control.
  • Prepare financial reports at various management levels.
  • Be flexible in working times to accommodate peaks, attend evening meetings, and provide cover for the section.
  • Deputize for the Finance Manager at meetings and manage the team when necessary.
  • Assist with the completion of monthly VAT duties, including the VAT return and monitoring of the Council's Partial Exemption position.
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the post.
Person Specification
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in providing financial advice and support.
  • Proficient in budget planning, service development, and resource management.
  • Experience in revenue budget monitoring and effective budgetary control.
  • Excellent report preparation skills for various management levels.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including attending evening meetings and covering for team members.
  • Experience in deputizing for senior management and team leadership.
  • Knowledge of VAT duties and the Council's Partial Exemption position.
  • Strong collaboration skills with various education stakeholders.
