  • Prepare accurate bid proposals and tender documents, collaborating with teams.
  • Engage with marine subcontractors and suppliers for compliance and competitiveness.
  • Assist the Head of Estimating in mentoring the team.
  • Implement best practices in estimating methodology.
  • Provide insights on project feasibility and strategic pricing.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the estimating function for a leading organisation in the marine infrastructure sector.

This role combines leadership of bid teams with hands‑on estimating expertise, ensuring accurate, competitive, and risk‑aware cost estimates. You will also contribute to strategic pricing decisions and support continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead Estimating & Cost Planning: Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for large‑scale marine projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Bid Coordination: Prepare accurate bid proposals and tender documents, collaborating with operations and engineering teams for project alignment.
  • Subcontractor Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with marine subcontractors and suppliers, reviewing quotations for compliance and competitiveness.
  • Team Leadership: Assist the Head of Estimating in mentoring the team, promoting collaboration across all departments.
  • Process Improvement: Implement best practices in estimating methodology and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with various teams to provide insights on project feasibility, risk profiling, and strategic pricing decisions.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience: Extensive experience in a senior estimating role within marine infrastructure or heavy civil projects.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • Skills: Strong numerical and analytical abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project planning software.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with marine construction methodologies, environmental considerations, and the NEC suite of contract documents (preferred).
  • Leadership Abilities: Strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively engage with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in dredging, pile driving, or similar marine projects.
  • Previous experience mentoring junior estimators.
  • A valid driving licence and CSCS card.
