Job summary

A leading consultancy is seeking a Senior Estimator to support a major UK rail programme based in London or Birmingham. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in heavy civils and rail estimating, mentoring junior staff and engaging with stakeholders. This PAYE contract lasts for 6 months, offering a rate of £550 per day with 3 days per week on site.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Estimator with proven experience in heavy civils, rail, and major projects to support a major UK rail programme. You will lead estimating activities, provide assurance on contractor submissions, and develop both order-of-magnitude and first principle estimates.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and review project estimates across multiple packages.
• Produce accurate cost estimates using RMM1, CESMM4 and estimating software.
• Provide assurance and benchmarking of contractor estimates.
• Mentor junior estimators and review outputs.
• Prepare basis-of-estimate reports for director review.
• Engage effectively with engineers, clients, and stakeholders.
