Overview

If you understand the challenges diverse communities face, either in the workplace or when accessing health and care services, and have experience taking action to address them, this could be your perfect job.

The Senior Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Practitioner will help to create a fair and inclusive culture at MFT, which respects difference, advocates for human rights and actively supports improving the lived experiences of our patients, service users and workforce. You will contribute to achieving the aims within the Diversity Matters Strategy, which are to have improved patient access, safety and experience, a representative and supportive workforce and inclusive leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Work in partnership with internal and external EDI stakeholders to develop, manage and report on EDI interventions for managers and staff, promoting equitable and effective ways of working.
  • Seek opportunities to strengthen and integrate EDI into Trust policies, plans and principles.
  • Use data as evidence for change and support teams to develop their own EDI projects and plans.
  • Line manage the EDI Practitioner and support their development.
  • Create, manage, oversee and report on projects and interventions across hospitals and community services, ensuring delivery within budget and timescales.
  • Develop, manage and oversee community group engagement to identify needs, provide support and promote effective services for diverse communities.
  • Facilitate and deliver EDI training and interventions to educate and improve inclusive practice when necessary.
  • Carry out research and benchmarking to address changes in EDI and Human Rights legislation, policies and guidance as measures of good practice.
  • Advise on embedding EDI into business objectives and service delivery in collaboration with managers, teams and stakeholders.
  • Promote the importance of an EDI approach in all forums to reinforce an equitable and supportive Trust culture aligned with the Trust’s Vision and objectives.
Qualifications and Experience

Demonstrated experience in equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives within a large organisation; ability to advise on statutory obligations, national policy and best practice; experience in project management, data analysis and stakeholder engagement; ability to work across multiple sites and with diverse communities.
