It all matters

Implement innovative fixes, even when they haven’t been previously attempted

As a member of our team, you’ll help keep our infrastructure solutions running smoothly. This includes responding to incidents, rectifying technical problems, identifying performance improvements, and minimising security risks. You’ll implement resolutions in collaboration with colleagues and specialists to resolve issues quickly and efficiently. You’ll identify patterns in repeat faults and contribute to changes that prevent recurrence, developing your expertise daily.

Teamwork will be central to your success, as you’ll manage relationships with customers, external teams and suppliers, and collaborate with colleagues across the department to configure, install and reconfigure database and related products. You’ll translate architect drawings, diagrams and data flows, mentor less experienced colleagues, and maintain up-to-date technical and functional documentation to support professional development and adoption of new technologies.

Protect the UK’s interests by minimising security risks and optimising performance

Essential experience includes working in an agile ITIL environment, supporting systems operations in an enterprise setting, and holding expert Microsoft product certifications. A practitioner-level knowledge of programming and supporting hardware, software and cloud systems is important, with a proven track record of delivering effective solutions in a high-pressured team. A background in security-focused environments (e.g., MOD) is common among applicants.

Experience delivering on Azure/AWS cloud deliverables and overall administrative knowledge of cloud environments.

Essential experience with monitoring applications and reporting tools, core infrastructure knowledge, and networking principles.

Experience with backup solutions such as Veeam and with AD/Windows Server technologies (DNS, Group Policy, PKI certificate authentication).

Analytical mindset with experience in problem and incident management, and a good understanding of change and release management; experience in ITIL4 environments is desirable.
