Overview

Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Scientific Instrumentation - Bristol. Salary / benefits: £45-60k, plus benefits. Job Term: Permanent / Full Time.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and components for scientific instrumentation.
  • Adhere to standards and regulations including EN (phone number removed), EN13849, UL, and CSA; possess experience with CE marking.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure integration with mechanical, software, and firmware components.
  • Produce detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using industry‑standard CAD software.
  • Plan engineering tasks and allocate resources with the management team and other Lead Engineers; ensure delivery to deadlines.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering team members, supporting onboarding and professional development.
  • support other departments by answering queries related to the function and ensure a consistent engineering service across the team.
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement of the engineering function and assist other departments where possible.
  • Maintain ongoing focus on communication and leadership development while enhancing technical skills.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a degree or higher in a relevant engineering subject; experience with Electrical and Mechanical design software.
  • Experience with electrical system design and ability to work to applicable standards and CE marking processes.
  • Strong collaboration, mentoring, and leadership capabilities.
