Senior DevOps Engineer

Based : Leeds - hybrid

About the Role

My client is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join their team within a leading banking organization. This role will play a key part in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, supporting mission-critical banking platforms.

You will work closely with development, security, and operations teams to enable continuous delivery while ensuring compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and CI / CD pipelines on Microsoft Azure
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
• Implement and manage CI / CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar
• Ensure high availability, performance, monitoring, and disaster recovery for production systems
• Collaborate with development teams to support containerized and microservices-based applications
• Enforce security best practices, identity management, and compliance requirements in a banking environment
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and deployment issues
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to DevOps best practices across the organization

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, networking, security)
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI / CD pipelines, and Git-based version control
• Solid understanding of containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes / AKS)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep)
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
• Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments (banking, financial services, insurance)
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and alerting tools

Nice to Have

• Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400)
• Experience with security tooling, DevSecOps practices, and compliance frameworks
• Exposure to microservices architecture and API management
