What about you?
  • You are passionate about Agile, DevOps and all things in automation! You’re excited at the prospect of influencing & driving forward our Agile / DevOps transformation and bringing your expertise of cloud‑based technologies to the business.
More specifically :
  • You have solid technical experience of building and deploying applications using tools such as Git, Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, WCBD, Maven and Ant. Ideally, within a Java Enterprise environment.
  • You will ideally have experience using Dynatrace
  • You have in-depth knowledge of Agile, DevOps and CI / CD best practices
  • You have practical experience of working in a Unix / Linux environment including system administration and scripting – bash, python / jython, perl, yaml and awk
  • You have deployment / configuration experience with Java application servers both on‑prem and in the cloud (Experience on either IBM WebSphere or Oracle WebLogic is highly sought)
  • You have knowledge of DevOps, infrastructure as a code and provisioning tools such as Ansible and Terraform
  • You love to solve complex technical problems and find solutions that drive business and customer value
  • You have great communication skills and are able to use them to build solid relationships with all levels of the business
What will you be doing?
  • As Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be a part of our dev ops team who will take our existing build / release management toolset and modernise it to a high performing, automated, CI / CD pipeline(s) as we look to drive quality, stability and performance of our transactional websites while also shortening release cycles and enabling us to deliver better value to our customers more quickly.
Furthermore :
  • You will help shape our future tech state and influence how Farnell implements new technologies such as Docker, OpenShift, AKS, Node.js, GraphQL and Ansible to name but a few.
  • You will work closely with our Agile Scrum teams to implement Agile / DevOps best practices throughout the whole SDLC.
  • You will work with our SREs to help monitor, troubleshoot and fix any performance and reliability issues with our Live websites.
  • You will help to rollout the Agile / DevOps way of working to other parts of the stack such as ERP and all associated integrations.
  • You will help to implement our migration from on‑prem to cloud‑based (Azure) solutions.
