Job summary

A leading actuarial consulting firm is seeking a Senior Developer to join their Divisional Business Services, specifically within the Actuarial Systems Team. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to problem solving, supporting the enhancement of actuarial workflows and system performance. Key responsibilities include developing robust actuarial modelling tools and maintaining documentation, with a focus on coding best practices in languages such as C++, Python, or VBA. Experience in life insurance or reinsurance is essential, alongside working knowledge of relevant modeling platforms. This position is permanent and located in London.

Job description

Our client is looking to hire a Senior Developer within the Divisional Business Services, Actuarial Systems Team. With a proactive approach to problem solving, you will constantly strive to improve all aspects of the actuarial systems workflow, including calculation accuracy, process automation and system performance. You will be involved in the design, implementation and testing of process, modelling and infrastructure improvements.

Key Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

  • Support the development and maintenance of a robust set of actuarial modelling tools and process
  • The key tasks cover all aspects of their end-to-end process
  • Support the development and/or maintenance of documentation and user guides
  • Strong coding capabilities, acting in line with best practices
  • Active independent / peer review and challenge across all aspects of the E2E Model Development Framework and on business requirements
  • Part qualified / Qualified actuary with experience in life insurance or life reinsurance
  • Coding experience, e.g. C++, Python or VBA
  • Demonstrable interest in long-term actuarial modelling role
  • Model development experience, preferably with knowledge of Life, CI, IP and Annuity/Longevity products
  • Experience of using MoSes, RiskAgility FM, Tyche or similar modelling platforms, including an understanding of the benefits and limitations of such platforms
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with Agile delivery methods desirable
