Job summary

A UK government-aligned ICT consultancy is seeking a Desktop Engineer responsible for providing 1st and 2nd line support for desktop environments. Overview

Job Description Desktop Engineer. Day-to-day activities will include resolving a wide variety of desktop software and hardware incidents and service requests, whilst minimising disruption and providing first-class customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintaining and promoting highest level of service to the client.
  • Adhering to technical standards, service delivery processes and ensuring service delivery is both cost effective and efficient.
  • Provide 1st and 2nd Line support for Incidents and Catalog requests.
  • Desktop / Laptop / VDI - build, configuration, and deployment to end users.
  • PABX administration and support.
  • Supporting Win11 issues, hardware, testing capability.
  • Assist with software installation / deployment.
  • Software and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Work within challenging SLA's and follow escalation paths to the leadership team and product specialists and 3rd parties promptly when required.
  • Smartphone support (InTune).
  • Local network cable patching.
  • Assisting with customer projects on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Create and update procedural documentation.
Project

Client project to increase staff augmentation to support client in their day-to-day multi-faceted IT support.

Services

To provide IT support to the End Client, providing desktop hardware and software support, Windows 10 and 11, IMACs, VDI, and some telephony support.

Experience Required
  • We are looking for a self-motivated team player with good technical and interpersonal skills.
  • You will be able to multi-task and enjoy working under pressure with tight deliverables.
  • You will take pride in the quality of your work and enjoy being part of a highly motivated team, being able to learn new technology and skills.
  • Previous PC Build or Deskside experience with Windows 11.
  • MS Excel experience.
  • Awareness of GDPR guidelines on personal data handling.
  • You will need to have an eye for accuracy and be able to follow required governance processes.
  • Experience with any of the following will be beneficial although training will be provided: M365, Autopilot, Intune, ServiceNow.
