Job summary

A leading design consultancy is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Rail design professional for a contract role. This position involves ensuring compliance with BIM standards, acting as the Engineering point of contact, and guiding Technicians in design development. Candidates must have substantial design experience in the Rail sector and a degree in Civil Engineering. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely on a contract basis outside IR35.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in Civil and Structural design, particularly in Rail environments.
• Knowledge of BIM standards and CAD software is essential.
• Understanding of design documentation and processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate documentation production according to BIM standards.
• Act as Engineering/Design point of contact for clients.
• Guide CAD/BIM Technicians in drawing development.

Skills

Civil and Structural design experience

Knowledge of Network Rail standards

Proficient in design calculations

Education

Degree in Civil Engineering

Job description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure all documentation is accurately produced in accordance with BIM standards as well as company standards
• Act as the Technical Ambassador for the projects and be the Engineering/Design point of contact for the client
• Proactively resolve any technical issues relating to design assurance
• Guide CAD/BIM Technicians in the develop of design drawings, details and library of standard details...
• Check design calculations, contract documentation, drawings and technical documents
• Attend internal/external meetings such as; IDC's

Essential Skills

• Substantial Civil and Structural design experience working within a Rail environment i.e Bridges, Platforms, Reinforced Structure Depot's, AFA schemes...
• Must have a degree in Civil Engineering
• Must have knowledge of Network Rail standards and processes

Desired Skills

• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or currently working towards) with the ICE
• Ideally has undertaken the role of CRE-D
