Senior Data Manager

Fully remote (UK-based)

£75,000 - £85,000

Role Overview

This role would see you as the Senior Data Manager of an established Insurance business, taking ownership of a complex, legacy data environment. This is a hands‑on leadership role, combining strong technical capability with the ability to work closely with non‑technical stakeholders to bring clarity, structure and accountability to data delivery.

You will lead a small team of two and act as the single point of ownership for data requests and outputs, removing dependency on business users and ensuring accurate, end‑to‑end delivery. This role suits someone comfortable working fully remote, who can hit the ground running and operate with a high degree of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership to a small team of 2
• Own and act as the technical authority across the data estate
• Take full end‑to‑end ownership of data requests and outputs
• Ensure accuracy, quality and accountability across delivery
• Design and document future data architecture
• Potential involvement in the migration of claims and underwriting systems
• Ability to collaborate with cross functional stakeholders across Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial and IT

Technical Skills for the role

• Advanced SQL experience
• Exposure to modern data platforms would be a bonus (e.g. Snowflake or other SaaS/cloud tools)
• Good understanding of on‑premise infrastructure and blending legacy data platforms with modern data architecture
• Knowledge of insurance specific analytics would be a bonus (such as fraud detection etc)
• Experience with ETL Tools, Altair Analytics Workbench would be preferred
