Job Description

Key Responsibilities – Strategic Tax Advisory

  • Provide expert tax advice and guidance to senior stakeholders across all business divisions
  • Influence and inform critical business decisions through comprehensive tax analysis
  • Support major commercial transactions with specialized transaction tax expertise
  • Lead cross-functional projects that require deep tax knowledge and business acumen

Key Responsibilities – Technical Tax Management

  • Oversee Research & Development (R&D) tax credit processes, ensuring optimal claim preparation and submission
  • Manage and coordinate responses to HMRC enquiries, maintaining strong regulatory relationships
  • Provide sophisticated Transfer Pricing analysis and documentation support
  • Deliver expert guidance on complex financing structures and their tax implications
  • Ensure robust tax compliance across all jurisdictions, including accurate tax accounting under IFRS standards

Key Responsibilities – Business Partnership & Development

  • Collaborate extensively with commercial teams to understand evolving business models
  • Monitor and interpret changing tax legislation, assessing impact on business operations
  • Develop and maintain tax policies and procedures that support business growth
  • Build strong working relationships across the retail environment, from supply chain to customer-facing operations

Key Responsibilities – Compliance & Risk Management

  • Prepare accurate corporation tax computations and statutory account disclosures
  • Maintain comprehensive tax records and documentation standards
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks while optimizing the company's tax position
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant tax regulations and reporting requirements
The Successful Applicant

Professional Qualifications

  • ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant) or CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser) qualification required
  • Current practicing certificate preferred

Technical Expertise

  • Extensive corporate tax background with demonstrable experience in complex tax environments
  • Proven track record in preparing corporation tax computations and statutory tax disclosures
  • Strong knowledge of UK tax legislation and international tax principles
  • Experience with tax technology and systems implementation
