Job description

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered or nearly registered clinical scientist to join our team in the Clinical Biochemistry laboratory at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust for a period of 12 months. The Clinical Biochemistry laboratories at CUH provide routine and endocrine specialist services both locally and nationally and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop skills in specialist endocrine services as well as gain experience of a fast moving automated laboratory. The will be supported to complete STP training and/or to study for FRCPath part one (as appropriate).

Responsibilities

• To provide professional advice to medical staff and other healthcare professionals on the selection of laboratory tests and their interpretation taking into account the particular clinical situation.
• To contribute to the development and selection of analytical methods and equipment employed.
• To be actively involved in maintaining the standards required for laboratory accreditation under UKAS.
• Undertake research and development directed towards biochemical problems in clinical medicine as agreed between the post-holder and the Clinical Biochemistry Clinical Lead.
