Job summary

A healthcare organization in Sunderland is seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist or Psychological Therapist for a part-time position (0.5 WTE) in the female acute ward. The role involves providing specialist psychological assessments and interventions in a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates will have a background in clinical psychology and the ability to work within a biopsychosocial model. Qualifications

Job description
Overview

The post is a 0.5 WTE Senior Clinical Psychologist/Psychological Therapist for Longview Ward, the female acute ward at Hopewood Park. The post will be part of the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) working with service users on Longview Ward. We are offering a Band 8a Clinical Psychology development post within the Adult Inpatients Service based at Hopewood Park Hospital, Sunderland. We are looking for enthusiastic Clinical Psychologists or Psychological Therapists to provide specialist psychological input on our wards. Previous experience of working in an inpatient setting either pre/during or post clinical psychology training is desirable but not essential.

There are three acute adult inpatient wards at Hopewood Park, two male and one female. Each ward has a 0.5 WTE (18.75 hours) Psychologist, supported by a 0.5 WTE Higher Assistant Psychologist. There is an 8c Consultant Psychologist post across all three acute wards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessment, including cognitive assessments, formulation, and evidence-based interventions for service users on the wards.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to embed formulation and trauma-informed care.
  • Deliver individual and group-based work, involving families and carers where appropriate.
  • Support multidisciplinary staff through supervision, team formulation, contributing to understanding complex risk, developing behaviour support plans, and providing reflective practice sessions and training to the teams.
  • Contribute to research, service evaluation and audits; opportunity to develop skills in these areas.
  • Collaborate with Higher Assistant Psychologist and other staff to support ward teams.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Chartered Psychologist (Clinical) or registered Psychological Therapist; eligible for HCPC (or equivalent) registration as appropriate.
  • Experience in inpatient settings is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work within a biopsychosocial model of care for adults over 18; able to work in a female acute ward context.
