Job summary

A leading mental health service provider in Manchester seeks a clinical psychologist to provide specialist assessment and treatment for older adult clients facing moderate to severe mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate in clinical psychology, be eligible for UK professional registration, and demonstrate effective communication and consultation skills. Person specification
Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Post-graduate doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology, (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), as accredited by the BPS.
  • Eligibility to register as a practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Desirable criteria
  • Completion of relevant modules of Accredited Doctoral Clinical Psychology Course: Introduction to Supervision Courses.
  • Candidates will be trained and accredited in one of the following modalities; CBT-psychosis and bipolar, Behavioural Family Interventions, Structured Clinical Management, Mentalisation Based Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, EMDR
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience of specialist psychological & assessment and treatment of older adult clients with moderate to severe mental health problems
  • Experience of neuropsychological assessment
  • Experience of MDT working
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of post-qualification CPD
Skills and abilities
Essential criteria
  • Well developed, effective communication skills, both orally and in writing,
  • Skills in providing consultation (including formulation) to other professional and non-professional groups
  • Ability to work at a high level of professional autonomy and responsibility
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials
