Job description
Overview

Applications are invited for a full‑time, fixed‑term post to cover maternity leave at a 660‑bed acute hospital serving a local population of approximately 400,000. The maternity service has 5,500 deliveries per year and the appointment will be made in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Service for Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England) 2002.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment and initial management of patients referred to the Paediatric Assessment Unit from primary care and the emergency department
  • Attend paediatric emergencies in the emergency department and on the ward
  • Inpatient ward rounds, including high‑dependency care with management planning and coordination of care in liaison with the attending consultant
  • Assessment and management planning of patients in the outpatient clinic with consultant input and supervision
  • Participation in teaching, training and appropriate educational activities
Qualifications
  • Full UK General Medical at the time of application
  • Training in Paediatrics and confidence in managing paediatric medical emergencies
  • Assessment of patients in general paediatric outpatient clinics
  • Working knowledge of the English language
