Job description

We seek an enthusiastic, experienced, team player, who wishes to gain further clinical experience in Cardiac, Maternal Medicine and High Risk Obstetrics, to join our department which is the lead provider for Obstetric Medicine for North West London. The successful candidate will join a busy, thriving department that is forward looking and innovative. We are the sector leaders in many aspects of obstetric and gynaecological practice. The post will suit a candidate who wishes to undertake advanced training in maternal medicine as part of OOPE or a post‑CCT trainee wishing to finesse their skill on obstetric medicine prior to taking a consultant post.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Conduct weekly cardiac clinic, monthly low‑risk cardiac clinic, and once a fortnight pre‑conception counselling cardiac clinic.
  • Attend the weekly Obstetric Medicine clinics, including the Joint Cardiac Clinic with Brompton and the MDT Diabetes/Endocrine Clinic.
  • Review cardiac inpatients and attend twice‑weekly ward rounds (Obstetric Physician‑led).
  • Participate in Maternal Medicine MDT meetings (Cardiac, Cystic Fibrosis, Haematology, Neurology, Diabetes and Endocrine).
  • On call, cover obstetrics and gynaecology on a three‑tier rota with a 1:8 out‑of‑hours call frequency, acting as Junior or Senior Registrar as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the high‑risk elective obstetric procedures team and provide specialist Obstetric clinics (Multiple Pregnancy and Preterm Birth).
Training & Development
  • Supported to complete the ATSM in Maternal Medicine.
  • Attend obstetric ultrasound scanning sessions to develop scanning skills.
  • Undertake clinical audits and quality improvement projects (QIP) under consultant supervision within Cardiac/Maternal Medicine.
  • Take an active role in optimising high‑risk antenatal care pathways both within the Trust and the North West Maternal Medicine Network.

We provide full maternity, emergency and children’s services, as well as community‑based services such as award‑winning sexual health and HIV clinics. Our Trust has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission and has an ‘Outstanding’ rating for ‘use of resources’ by NHS Improvement. We are investing heavily in our estate and are expanding critical care facilities and a children’s unit.
