Overview

Interviews are yet to be scheduled. Applications are open for a HPB Senior Clinical Fellow who wishes to gain experience in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HPB) surgery. The role would be suitable for a senior trainee for a maximum of five months. The Senior Clinical Fellow will be expected to manage pre- and post-operative patients and will be encouraged to publish and present at local and international meetings in HPB. There will be modular HPB cases hands-on training (STU) for both benign and malignant conditions, cross-site case observations, and a 1:18 on-call rota to support emergency care.

Main duties

In addition to HPB registrar work, the post includes providing senior cover for HPB patients, attending theatre/outpatient sessions, and care of admitted General Surgical patients. There is a commitment to the acute general surgical rota (commensurate with experience). The appointed candidate will be expected to carry out a degree of clinical work (clinics) independently. There is access to modern imaging (CT, PET), Endoscopy (ERCP and EUS) and robotics on a single site. This post offers exposure and experience in complex HPB surgery. The Senior Clinical Fellow is expected to develop operative skills in robotic surgery and judgment in the care of such patients through the full spectrum of the specialty. The University Hospital is a thousand-bed tertiary care, level III trauma unit, affiliated to Warwick Medical School, one of the foremost institutions in the country.
