A leading recruitment agency is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering specialist in the United Kingdom. The role involves taking full commercial responsibility for allocated projects, managing junior team members, and building strong client relationships. The ideal candidate must have a strong civils background and knowledge of commercial and contractual management principles, with experience in the water utilities sector being highly advantageous.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in a civils environment.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and contractual management principles.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience in water utilities desirable.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior team members effectively.

Responsibilities

• Take full commercial responsibility for allocated projects, including monthly reporting.
• Manage and mentor junior commercial team members.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and the supply chain.
• Prepare and submit accurate valuations, supported by site visits where required.
• Follow up on payments and keep senior management informed of any issues.
• Price and agree project variations with clients and subcontractors.
• Prepare contractual notices and administer subcontract conditions.
• Ensure timely resolution of client and subcontractor final accounts.
• Maintain organised commercial files, both electronic and hard copy.
• Support pre-construction activities alongside the bid and contracts teams.
