Job description

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver civil design packages for National Grid substation projects.
• Ensure designs comply with National Grid specifications, CDM regulations, and relevant British Standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, project managers, and contractors.
• Review and approve technical drawings, calculations, and documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Attend site visits and client meetings as required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working on National Grid substation projects.
• Strong background in civil and structural design, particularly for substations.
• Proficient in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro).
• In-depth knowledge of National Grid technical standards and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple design packages.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent).
• Experience with hybrid working and remote collaboration tools.
• Located within commuting distance of Stafford (preferred but not essential).
