Job description
Position

We will be recruiting a new Senior Childcare Practitioner in the new year (2026), as our current senior will be moving on to a new post. Although an exact leaving date is still to be confirmed, we are keen to have the new practitioner in post prior to her departure to ensure a smooth handover, thought to be in the first quarter of 2026.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a senior childcare role, or at least four years’ experience in childcare for those who have not held a senior position.
  • Ideally, hold an SVQ Level 4 / PDA Level 8 qualification, along with up-to-date First Aid, Infection Control, and Food Hygiene certificates.
  • Strong working knowledge of key Out of School Care guidance such as Out to Play, Playwork Principles, Play Strategy, and GIRFEC.
  • If you do not currently hold a Level 4 qualification, you must be willing to achieve this within two years of joining our team.
Responsibilities
  • Lead on care plans and planning activities for the children.
  • Support the Manager with a range of administrative responsibilities, including medication, fire safety, health and safety and risk assessments, planning and evaluations, and maintaining registers.
  • Enhance the team with enthusiasm, leadership, and fresh ideas, and be a positive role model, bringing energy and creativity each day.
  • Communicate confidently with children and families, being fun, reliable, and committed to ensuring the best possible experience for the children.
Additional Information
  • Someone who can drive a minibus would be preferential and this responsibility would come with a wage enhancement.
