Job Summary

The Healthcare Analytics department within Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Senior Cancer Analyst to join its Analysis & Reporting team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with established analyst experience in cancer reporting to deliver data‑driven, evidence‑based decisions across the Cancer directorate. The role supports driving transformation, providing subject‑matter expert analytics and working closely with other team members.

Responsibilities
  • Lead on allocated cancer programmes of work, ensuring delivery of high quality support across the Cancer directorate.
  • Submit statutory returns, produce regular reports, develop new reports in Power BI and complete ad‑hoc data requests for the Trust.
  • Analyse, extract, process and visualise data from various source systems.
  • Collaborate with managers and staff across the Cancer directorate to improve outcomes for patients.
Qualifications – Essential
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent knowledge gained through relevant work experience.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience extracting, processing and analysing NHS data and writing SQL queries.
  • Thorough understanding of NHS data definitions and reporting.
  • Experience working with service stakeholders and cancer data reporting.
Qualifications – Desirable
  • Information Management Qualification.
  • Experience of reporting from Somerset.
  • Experience developing Power BI reports.
  • Good negotiating skills.

Employment Details

Band: 7 – Salary: £47,810 a year (Pro Rata for Part Time). Contract: Fixed term, 6 months. Working pattern: Full‑time, Home or remote working. Reference number: 390‑COR‑SO‑0657. Job location: Southend‑on‑Sea, SS0 0RY.
