Job description
Overview

We are looking for a creative and motivated professional with experience of supporting young people with their mental health needs to join our team as a youth justice link worker. The post holder will work within Trafford CAMHS as a senior clinician. You will need to be a registered professional. This could be from a range of backgrounds including clinical psychology, psychotherapy, social work, nursing or occupational therapy. You will understand young people's mental health and have experience working with risk and trauma informed practice. One working day will be based within Trafford Youth Justice team, part of the local authority children and young people19s services. The successful candidate is required to manage a caseload and provide a range of high quality care appropriate to the child or young person19s needs which will include mental state assessment, risk assessment and management, providing consultation to colleagues within Youth Justice and to wider networks such as social care and, Greater Manchester Police and courts. The post holder will have a range of skills and knowledge to deliver care in a multi-agency team setting and receive clinical supervision and management supervision from local CAMHS service, and peer supervision with the CAMHS and youth justice teams. Experience of assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions will be advantageous.

Clinical duties
  1. To work autonomously undertaking assessment of referrals from Trafford YJ Service. Gathering appropriate information from the child, family and relevant agencies.
  2. To participate as a senior clinician within the core CAMHS team, offering assessment and intervention to young people with moderate to severe mental health need.
  3. To develop a formulation and plan for intervention, negotiating this with the patient and parents, communicating to the referrer and relevant professionals.
  4. To contribute to the duty function of the service, including assessment and management of risk.
  5. To implement and manage intervention utilising the skills and expertise of the multi disciplinary team, and other agencies.
  6. To manage your own case load, effectively managing your own capacity.
  7. To actively participate in clinical supervision.
  8. To attend and contribute to multi disciplinary team and multi agency meetings.
  9. To provide consultation to other professionals
  10. To work from a multi agency perspective in liaison with other professionals
  11. To attend and contribute to professional meetings within YJ and Core CAMHS as required
  12. To keep accurate, timely and thorough records of care provided to all patients, including the compilation of appropriate statistics.
  13. To provide written reports as required and within timescale
  14. To be responsible for the management of agreed tasks in relation to specific services/resources to ensure the efficient and safe running of that aspect of the service.
