Overview

EA Associates are recruiting for a Senior Buyer on behalf of a well-established construction subcontractor in Chelmsford. The business delivers projects across Essex and London and now requires a Senior Buyer who can take full control of procurement and drive performance across the supply chain.

The role :

You will manage all procurement activity for materials, plant and subcontract packages, ensuring competitive pricing, reliable delivery and full compliance with project requirements. The position demands someone who can work at pace, minimise delays, and maintain tight commercial control.

Key responsibilities
  • Take ownership of procurement for multiple live construction projects
  • Source and secure materials, plant and subcontract services at competitive rates
  • Negotiate firmly and maintain strong commercial leverage
  • Build and manage a dependable supply chain with proven construction capability
  • Control costs and support accurate commercial forecasting
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, schedules and agreements
  • Resolve supply issues quickly to avoid impact on programme and productivity
  • Maintain clear communication with commercial, operational and site teams
About you
  • Strong background as a Buyer / Senior Buyer within the construction industry
  • Solid understanding of materials, plant hire, and subcontract procurement
  • Confident negotiator able to challenge suppliers and secure best value
  • Comfortable working under pressure across multiple projects and deadlines
  • Commercially focused with strong organisational skills
  • Able to work closely with QSs, Project Managers and site teams to support delivery
