Job description
Senior Buyer role – Weston-super-Mare

Senior Buyer | Weston-super-Mare

The Company

Green Frog Connect is at the forefront of the energy transition to a zero-carbon electricity grid. We are an accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP), which allows us to design and build HV electricity networks at voltages up to 132,000 volts. We take each project from concept through detailed civil, electrical and mechanical design, construction, commissioning and finally handover to the client. We also act as Balance of Plant (BoP) or Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for new-build renewable and energy storage projects sized between 5-100MW. We have become one of the leading companies specialising in this sector in the UK and are the go-to people for clients looking to connect complex schemes to the grid within challenging timescales. In the last year alone, we have connected over 200MW of power generation to the grid and have a further 300MW in design and construction. The company is experiencing a high level of growth which we expect to continue for the foreseeable future as large-scale, carbon-intensive power plants continue to be de-commissioned and high volumes of renewable and energy storage projects are brought online.

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Buyer to join our expanding team. Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Buyer will work closely with project, design, and finance teams to manage procurement activities and ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective delivery of materials and services across our infrastructure and EPC projects.

Main Duties
  • Leading the sourcing and procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontract services from tender through to delivery.
  • Supporting project planning with accurate procurement lead times and delivery scheduling.
  • Managing supplier relationships, framework agreements, and long-term supply strategies.
  • Negotiating commercial terms to ensure best value and alignment with project budgets.
  • Monitoring and reporting on procurement performance and supporting cost control initiatives.
  • Mitigating procurement risks and managing issues as they arise to avoid project delays.
  • Working with the Commercial and Finance teams on forecasting and cost reporting.
  • Assisting with continuous improvement of procurement systems and processes.
The Individual – Skills and Attributes
  • Commercially astute with a clear understanding of supply chain risk, cost control and logistics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Organised and proactive with strong attention to detail and a structured approach to procurement.
  • Confident managing multiple stakeholders and working in a fast-paced project delivery environment.
  • Committed to sustainable and responsible sourcing practices.
  • Analytical thinker with a problem-solving mindset and a drive for process improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
  • CIPS Level 4 qualification or equivalent preferred (or working towards).
  • Relevant degree or vocational qualification (ONC, HNC, BTEC, NVQ Level 3) in supply chain, business, or engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar purchasing or procurement role, ideally within the construction, engineering, or utilities sectors.
  • Strong IT skills including proficiency with Excel and procurement systems.
Benefits
  • £45,000 DOE
  • Uncapped bonus scheme linked to company profits
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Employer pension contributions
