Overview

Senior Buyer position based at our Customer Support Centre in Walsall on a hybrid working model (3 days a week in the office). You will shape and deliver the strategy to enable positive performance on sales and margin targets, manage resources and budget effectively, and coach and lead a team to achieve goals. You will drive effective range developments, product development and explore new products that customers would love. You and your team play an essential role in our product journey, supporting customers to shop the ranges they love. Our three core behaviours guide all actions: Love Our Customers, Care for Our Colleagues, and Protect Our Pounds/Euros.

You will contribute to the achievement of the commercial strategy and key performance indicators through effective category and people leadership; establishing Joint Business Partnerships with suppliers and key stakeholders to drive scalability, efficiency, and growth.

Responsibilities
  • Setting and meeting key performance objectives related to sales, margin, and other critical operational metrics.
  • Helping to define and implement our company’s vision.
  • Leading the development and execution of product range reviews to optimise category performance.
  • Drive revenue, margin, and gross profit across commercial divisions and brands.
  • Identify, create, and develop new product range opportunities, taking ownership of crafting compelling business proposals that secure new deals, contracts, and long-term partnerships.
  • Promote collaborative working between Buying, Supply Chain, Marketing and Finance.
Qualifications
  • Over 5 years’ experience in a retail buying position, with prior team leadership and experience in leading category management.
  • Experience analysing market trends, creating product ranges, and ensuring stock availability.
  • Comprehensive insight into product and logistical challenges and their impact on operations, with a deep understanding of suppliers’ needs and how to foster strong, mutually beneficial relationships.
