Job description

Job Title: Senior Building Surveyor (MRICS)
Location: Yorkshire (Sheffield or Leeds office, flexible on location)
Salary: £45,000-£60,000 basic salary (including a car allowance) + bonus + global consultancy benefits package

The Opportunity

Are you a Commercial Building seeking a role where you can progress your career working across a diverse range of sectors? Capable of managing team resource and seeking a position mentoring and leading? Whether that be as a sector specialist or someone that operates across multiple areas of the business, this employer does not use a one‑fit‑size‑all approach to an individual’s career development. This is a fantastic opportunity for an MRICS Building Surveyor who wants to develop management skills and operate across a wide range of public and private sector industries.

Join a global organisation with over 4,000 professionals worldwide, employee‑owned, whose culture bridges borders, fostering collaboration, continuous learning, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. You will be a part of the Northern Building Surveying Team (team of over 120 Surveyors) that works across many industries.

We are recognised as a Top UK Employer, celebrated for industry leadership, charitable initiatives, and a people‑first approach. You will contribute to landmark projects and engage in global knowledge exchange, in a culture that values wellbeing, inclusion, and professional growth.

What will you be doing?

We’re looking for an experienced “all rounder” Senior Building Surveyor to lead the delivery of large condition surveys and manage project work. You will report into one of our Northern offices – Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds – and be tasked with managing team resources and carrying out professional service and project work for a diverse range of clients, including offices, retail and industrial assets. Main duties include:

  • Lead and deliver condition surveys and technical inspections across commercial property portfolios in your allocated region.
  • Produce high‑quality reports and recommendations tailored to client objectives and asset strategies.
  • Manage a broad variety of projects, prioritising workloads and allocating team resources to ensure timely delivery.
  • Handle pre‑ and post‑contract activities, with a focus on contract administration under JCT forms of contract.
  • Lead, coach and mentor junior team members, including allocating team resources and acting as an APC mentor.
What's in it for you?
  • Flexible Working: Hybrid patterns with enhanced maternity/paternity support for better work‑life balance.
  • Competitive Rewards: Generous salary, holidays, and option to buy extra leave.
  • Wellbeing Focus: Gym membership, cycle‑to‑work schemes, and wellness initiatives.
  • Comprehensive Healthcare: Private medical, dental insurance, and eyecare support.
  • Career Growth: Ongoing development with mentoring programmes and paid professional memberships.
  • Season Ticket Loan.
  • Project Variety: Exposure to diverse sectors and regional opportunities, you won’t be pigeon‑holed into one sector of work.
  • Community Engagement: Social events, charity fundraising, and volunteering activities.
