Job description
About the role

At Balfour Beatty, some of the most important decisions are made long before construction starts. As a Preconstruction Manager, you'll be at the centre of those decisions - shaping how complex, high-profile projects are conceived, costed, and ultimately delivered across our Regional Build London team and the wider region.

This is a high-impact role where your ideas, leadership, and commercial insight will directly influence the success of major infrastructure and construction schemes that communities rely on every day.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead the preconstruction journey on strategically important bids, from early engagement through to contract award
  • Bring together design, commercial, planning, and delivery teams to create winning, buildable solutions
  • Develop innovative construction methodologies that balance cost, programme, quality, and safety
  • Work closely with clients to understand their challenges and shape solutions that add real value
  • Drive risk management, value engineering, and smart use of the supply chain
  • Set the standard for excellence in bidding, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Who we're looking for
  • Strong experience in preconstruction, bids, or work-winning within construction or infrastructure
  • A confident leader who can motivate teams and influence senior stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness with a practical understanding of how projects are built
  • The ability to think strategically, challenge assumptions, and find better ways to deliver
  • A passion for quality, safety, and sustainable construction.

  • 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata)
  • Family friendly policies which include 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partners leave.
  • Pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave, recognition schemes and much more…
