CALL FOR APPLICATIONS TO TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (CONSULTANCY) FOR THE SENIOR BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE CONSULTANCY
Terms of Reference
- Purpose: Senior Behavioral Science Consultant
- Location: Remote – flexible; preference for holders based in GMT/-3 time zones
- Duration: 1 year
- Language requirements: Fluency in French required; Arabic preferred
- Headcount: Ideally 1 consultant covering both French and Arabic languages; multiple consultants may be contracted if single expertise cannot be found
- Start date: To be confirmed; consultancy on an on‑call basis with assignments as needed
- Reporting to: Jimena Llopis, CUBIC Head of Behavioural Science Research
Role Purpose
The objectives of this consultancy are to co‑lead behavioural science‑focused projects with Save the Children Country Office staff. Tasks include leading teams to conduct formative research, designing, implementing and evaluating behaviourally informed interventions, conducting workshops and writing results for technical and non‑technical audiences.
Role Dimensions
Co‑development with the international CUBIC team requires strong remote communication and collaboration skills. The part‑time senior consultant will build relationships with country office leads and promote CUBIC’s work to external stakeholders, including communities, governments, and donors.
Key Areas of Accountability
- Carry out responsibilities for leading 1–3 behavioural science projects in collaboration with country office staff, ensuring timely design, implementation and evaluation of interventions.
- Conduct behavioural diagnosis through desk research, workshops, and primary/secondary formative research activities, guiding large‑dataset analyses.
- Design, implement and evaluate behaviourally informed interventions, supporting trial protocols, randomisation, power analyses and outcome measurement.
- Deliver behavioural science trainings and workshops focusing on formative research experiments and trials.
Other Responsibilities
- Draft reports, case studies and academic papers to promote trial results and advise on scale‑up.
- Support proposal and concept note development to aid organisational growth.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Behavioural Science, Social Psychology, Economics, Public Policy, Neuroscience or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Over 5 years of research and applied behavioural science experience, including at least 3 years in field experiments in developing contexts.
- Demonstrated design, implementation and analysis of randomised field experiments in developing countries.
- Strong quantitative research skills (STATA, R, or Python) and qualitative/mixed‑methods skills (NVivo or similar).
- Professional fluency in written and spoken English and French; Arabic proficiency preferred.
- ‑motivated, flexible, able to manage multiple tasks and drive projects independently.
- Excellent management, organisational and interpersonal skills with robust communication and writing ability.
- Experience in Global South settings highly preferred.
