Job summary

A leading design consultancy in the UK is seeking a Senior Architect for a contract role. You will lead complex infrastructure projects, managing multi-disciplinary teams and delivering innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience as an ARB & RIBA Chartered Architect and expertise in Autodesk Revit. This position offers a hybrid working model and competitive hourly rates.

Qualifications

  • Substantial post-qualification experience as an architect.
  • Proven track record in complex infrastructure projects, preferably in transportation.
  • Expert-level skills in Autodesk Revit and strong BIM knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design projects from conception to completion across all RIBA work stages.

Senior Architect (Transport and Infrastructure) – CONTRACT ROLE

Location: Manchester, York, London or Birmingham – Hybrid Working Available

Hourly Rate: £35ph – £40ph

About the Role

Join a world‑leading multi‑disciplinary design consultancy at an exciting time of growth. Following major international project wins, we are expanding our award‑winning Architecture team across rail stations, depots, airports, energy infrastructure and masterplanning sectors. As Senior Architect, you will lead complex infrastructure projects within our RIBA Chartered Practice, delivering innovative built environment solutions across the UK and global markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design projects from conception to completion across all RIBA work stages
  • Manage multi‑disciplinary teams, architectural partners and sub‑consultants
  • Deliver high‑quality designs, drawings, reports and technical documentation
  • Drive collaborative solutions across architecture and engineering disciplines
  • Support bidding activities including cost estimates, programmes and deliverables
  • Provide technical leadership and site support throughout project lifecycles
  • Ensure delivery to engineering standards, within budget and on schedule
Essential Requirements
  • ARB & RIBA Chartered Architect with substantial post‑qualification experience
  • Proven track record delivering complex infrastructure projects (transportation sector preferred)
  • Expert‑level Autodesk Revit skills with strong BIM knowledge
  • Adobe Creative Suite proficiency (Photoshop / InDesign)
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation capabilities
  • Solution‑focused approach with strong communication skills
  • Collaborative team player who thrives under pressure
Desirable Experience
  • International projects, particularly Middle East region
  • Bentley software (AECOsim)
  • Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms
