Job Description

Do you have experience of winning work and providing expert advice to clients on acoustics across a range of sectors? We are seeking personnel with the ability to demonstrate experience of resourcing and delivering complex and challenging acoustics projects.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Acoustic Consultant here at AECOM. You will contribute to a wide range of acoustics projects primarily covering building acoustics, but also opportunities to manage and grow work across broader areas of vibration and environmental acoustics. You would have responsibilities for the development and mentoring of junior staff, potentially including line management duties.

As a member of our Acoustics team you can expect to work on a wide range of interesting and challenging projects including some of the biggest projects in the UK. Recent and current clients include HS2, Transport for London, NEOM, Defra, Shakespeare North, Battersea Power Station, Houses of Parliament, HMRC, BBC, Guys and St Thomas's Hospital.

Each team member has a development plan to provide a clear pathway to personal development and career progression. The team provides technical leadership of projects throughout the infrastructure lifecycle from feasibility, preliminary and detailed stage designs. Our clients are many and varied from both the private and public sector and include the major custodians of the UK's rail network, numerous local authorities, and major Contractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Expertise: Track record of working in acoustics and preferably have experience of a range of acoustics commissions from small projects to major multi-disciplinary projects covering sound, noise and vibration (SNV) technical areas.
  • Deliver: We have an outstanding project portfolio across all market sectors, which provides a wide range of career development opportunities. We advise clients on building, environmental and occupational acoustics, noise mapping, vibration, industrial noise control, audio-visual design and auralisation.
  • Collaborate: you will have a solid background in acoustics, be someone who is innovative and is willing to exploit the latest technologies, but who can explain acoustics to a non-technical audience.
  • Lead: Ability to provide and/or lead the acoustic input, undertake predictions, assessment, and write reports on a range of projects.
  • Provide Quality: Previous experience in building acoustics design, planning assessments and survey's and a good understanding of industry guidance and be able to lead such projects would be beneficial. A thorough understanding of the RIBA design stage process, be capable of technically reviewing building acoustic design reports and calculations and producing new work proposals delegated by the team managers.

Qualifications

  • A degree (and preferably a post graduate qualification such as a Masters) in acoustics or relevant technical disciplines (e.g. Physics, Maths or Engineering)
  • Corporate membership of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA/FIOA).
  • Chartered status or evidence of working towards this.
  • Experience of undertaking acoustic modelling using CadnaA, CATT/Odeon, etc software.
