HSB (UK and Ireland) consists of the parent company HSB Engineering Insurance Limited (HSBEIL) together with its two UK subsidiaries, HSB Engineering Inspection Services Limited (HSBEISL); and a regulated MGA, MD Insurance Services Limited (MDIS), which trades as Premier Guarantee or LABC Warranty.

Collectively HSB is the UK and Ireland’s only group of companies solely focused on providing specialist engineering and technology insurance solutions and risk focused inspection services and assessments to its customers.

Your Role

As Senior Accountant your role is to assist in the preparation and reporting of high-quality financial information, including undertaking and being accountable for various key financial processes.

Additionally, you will support and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, in addition to enhancing the control environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Potentialmanagementofa small team. To lead, develop and mentor.
• Contribution to the month and quarter close process in line with company policies and timetables.
• Create andmaintainrelationships with variousstakeholders.
• Ownership ofkeymonth endand quarter enddeliverables, for example a subset of the tasks belowdepending on the team:
• Monthlyaffiliate packsubmittedto HSB IIC, including cash flow
• Quarterly reporting toMunichRe(incl.IFRS17)
• Oversight of balance sheets, ensuring understanding and control of balances
• Investment reporting, working alongside investment managersand oversight of cash management
• Tax balances, including calculating and posting of corporation tax estimates, and completion of Insurance Premium Tax and VAT returns
• Working cross-function to set IBNR reserves and manage reinsurance recoveries/treaty costs
• Solvency II reporting
• Annual statutory accounts
• Production of insightful financial analysis,including expense analysis and supporting the planningand forecasting process
• Provide Financial supportand respond to ad-hoc requests fromkey stakeholders across the HSB andMunichRegroup.
• Represent finance on various current and future projects relating to both the team and wider business.
• Adhering to robust and compliant accounting processes to ensureaccuratereporting of both the P&L and Balance sheet.
• Commitment to personal developmentin order tomeet both current and future requirements of the business.
