Job description
Senior Account Handler / Broker (Hybrid-Working) - Leeds City Centre

Job Type: Permanent Sector: General Insurance Specialism: Account Handler, Broker, Senior Appointments Location: Yorkshire & Humberside Town/City: Leeds City Centre Salary range: Other Salary Description: Highly competitive basic salary, plus bonus Posted: 06-Jan-26 Start Date: ASAP Recruiter: Aston Charles Job Ref: RJ- 3170 Job Views: 21

“We don’t tend to do the vanilla in this team - when it’s weird and wonderful, complex and unusual, that’s when we get the call”, so says the hiring manager regarding this senior role.

This highly respected broker is something of a Yorkshire institution - it was established over 50 years ago and, in these days of mass-consolidation, is committed to retaining its autonomy. Also, it is one of only a handful of Lloyds’ brokers outside of London, giving its clients direct access to specialist markets. It has a subsidiary in Europe, facilitating smooth trading post-Brexit, and has partner brokers across the globe, resulting in a client list spanning the Middle East, North and South America and Africa. Having employed some of the most technically-gifted insurance professionals in the UK, this broker is known for its ability to craft bespoke, highly-creative solutions to clients with even the most complex of exposures.

Never one to rest on its laurels, it continues to reinvest its profits and has recently relocated its Head Quarters to what is arguably the most impressive office block in the North of England. Based in the middle of Leeds city centre, as well as offering its clients and insurer partners fabulous meeting places, it boasts its own onsite gym and bar for the exclusive use of its staff!

Due to an incumbent member of the team relocating, the need has arisen for an additional Senior Account Handler / Broker to join – based in either Leeds or Halifax. Here, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day insurance programmes of a varied portfolio of clients from a range of industry sectors, both blue and white collar – many of whom have complex global exposures. This team doesn’t tend to deal with cases generating income under £20,000 and many pay six-figure fees. The finer points of the role can be tweaked to suit your skills, experience and ambitions – for example, you are welcome to handle the ProFin or Fleet elements of clients’ programmes, or if you prefer, you can delegate these to colleagues in specialist teams.

For the ambitious, you will receive a myriad of opportunities for progression into a variety of roles, or be involved in some fascinating projects.

You will receive a highly competitive basic salary, generous pension, a variety of other benefits and a six-monthly bonus.

As one would expect from a forward-thinking and dynamic business, it allows staff to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays (with additional flexibility for life’s little emergencies on an ad hoc basis).
