Job Overview

We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist provision within a primary school in Barnsley (S71). This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting children with complex learning and communication needs – helping them build confidence, develop essential skills, and celebrate their individual achievements.

  • Supporting pupils to learn in ways that suit their individual needs and abilities

  • Delivering learning in small, structured steps through practical, hands‑on activities
  • Supporting outdoor learning and community experiences such as swimming, travel training, and local outings
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, or a strong interest in developing in this field
  • Patient, empathetic and enthusiastic about inclusive education
  • Able to adapt activities to meet individual needs and celebrate progress in all forms
  • Enjoys working collaboratively within a supportive, child-centred team
