Job summary

A leading tutoring service in Wallsend is seeking SEND/SEMH Tutors to support students on a 1-to-1 basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with children with special educational needs and mental health challenges. This role offers flexible working hours between 5-30 hours per week at a pay rate of £25 – £30 per hour. Engagement involves helping progress learning and personal development until appropriate school placements are found.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting complex students on a 1‑to‑1 basis.
  • Proven track record of improving student performances.
  • Team Teach Qualification would be highly desirable.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training issued in the last year.

Job description

Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting for SEND/SEMH tutors in Newcastle! The ideal candidate will have a wide range of experience with SEND and SEMH, and would be comfortable supporting complex students on a 1‑to‑1 basis within the home or community. The main aim of these sessions is to help progress the student's learning and personal development until a suitable school placement is found.

  • Position: SEND/SEMH Tutor
  • Start date: ASAP
  • End date: Ongoing, open-ended
  • Area: Newcastle
  • Working hours: Flexible; 5–30 hours per week
  • Pay Rate: GBP25 – GBP30 per hour
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • QTS (desired but not required) or previous experience of working with students on a 1‑to‑1 basis
  • Proven track record of improving student performances
  • Team Teach Qualification would be highly desirable, but is not required
  • Up‑to‑date safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable though not essential as safeguarding training is provided)
  • DBS on update service
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional references from your previous two years of employment
