An educational support organization in England is seeking a tutor to provide one-on-one educational sessions for children with additional needs. Would you like to support children with outside of mainstream settings?

This tutor role will be ideal if you are a newly qualified teacher, teaching assistant or have any experience working with children with additional needs and are looking for some flexible work.

This tutor role involves working with children who may have additional needs or looked after. Being able to provide educational sessions, face to face with children at their homes or a local area e.g., library. Skills and experience such as planning resources around the child’s needs, (this could be likely on developing their knowledge in core subjects such as Maths, English and Science) and keeping the child engaged with tasks are essential in this role.

The location for this would vary dependent on the need of the pupil but would be pre‑agreed prior to commencement of the tuition.

What are we looking for in a tutor?
  • Have experience working with children or young people.
  • Able to plan and deliver core and cross‑curricular engaging sessions.
  • Applying skills to get pupils education back up to speed.
  • Managing and implementing different behaviour strategies.
  • Checking that pupils are on track to achieve their desired learning outcomes and being able to provide feedback. This can be done via assessments.
  • Desirable – SEN experience

To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.
