SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School - Walthamstow
Location: Walthamstow, East London

About the Role
Destination Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Walthamstow. This full‑time role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs.
The role may involve supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, assisting children with ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and provides excellent support and guidance for staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Support the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
  • Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support classroom activities and adapt resources to meet individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals.

  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a school setting.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
