SEN Teaching Assistant (Barnet) – Primary School (KS1 / KS2)

Location: Barnet, London
Sector: Primary / SEN (SEMH & ASD)
Salary: Pay to scale (Depending on experience)
Contract: January 2026 – July 2026

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? A progressive and welcoming Primary School in Barnet is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support KS2 pupils with SEMH and ASD needs.

About the Role:
  • Work 1:1 and with small groups of KS2 pupils with SEMH and ASD needs.
  • Support learning and behaviour under the guidance of the Class Teacher.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to help pupils regulate emotions and remain engaged.
  • Help pupils achieve both academic and personal development goals.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.
Person Specification:
  • At least one year’s experience working with children (ideally within an educational setting).
  • A genuine interest in supporting children with SEMH and ASD needs.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.
  • An NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – desirable but not essential.
