SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full-time / Term-time only
Start Date: Immediate Start Date
Salary: £23124 – £27258 per annum*

GSL Education are seeking a passionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work at a Secondary Academy in York. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about supporting students with additional needs and making a positive impact on their educational journey.

Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 and small group support for students with special educational needs, including ASC, ADHD, SLCN, and SEMH.
  • Assist teachers in adapting lesson materials and activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Help pupils to regulate behaviour, build confidence, and develop independence in a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and parents to track progress and celebrate achievements.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom atmosphere.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (in school or alternative settings).
  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting pupils with ASC, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and empathy.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships quickly with students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
